State Akin To Sleep
Neville Goddard's SATS (State Akin to Sleep) method is a manifestation technique where you enter a drowsy, meditative state just before sleep to impress your subconscious with the feeling of your wish already fulfilled, using short, simple, emotionally charged scenes, like being congratulated or living in your desired reality, until it feels real, effectively "rewiring" your mind to align with that reality. The key is to feel the accomplishment, not just visualize the goal, by assuming the state of the wish fulfilled, making it your present reality in imagination, and falling asleep in that feeling.
How to Practice SATS
Get Relaxed:
Lie down comfortably (often in your usual sleeping position) and relax deeply, focusing on your breath or the darkness behind your eyelids.
Enter the State:
Aim for that drowsy, "in-between" state where thoughts drift, but you remain aware (not fully asleep). You might see random images; overlay your scene onto these.
Create a Short Scene:
Develop a brief, sensory-rich scene that implies your wish is already fulfilled (e.g., "I am so happy and thankful," hearing someone say "Congratulations!").
Feel the Reality:
Repeat this scene over and over, focusing on the feeling of it being real, as if it's happening now, not in the future. Use words like "Thank you" as if to a higher power.
Fall Asleep in the Feeling:
Continue until the scene feels vivid and real, then drift off to sleep within that feeling, believing it's done.
Key Principles
Assumption is Reality:
You are changing your self-concept by living from the end result, not just wishing for it.
Feeling is the Secret:
The emotional conviction that it's already yours is crucial, more so than perfect visualization.
Simplicity:
Keep the scene short, simple, and emotionally resonant.
Practice:
It takes practice to train your imagination and enter the state consistently.
